Our Story

Our founders were walking around with a young woman, Tyesha, from the Kowanyama Community in Cape York. She was walking, barefoot, on her way to become a pilot so she could help her community travel.

She became known as the Barefoot Pilot. Our founders wanted to continue to fulfil the dreams and ambitious of young people like Tyesha, and so created the Barefoot Warrior Academy.

Through working with Aboriginal communities, our founders saw that although there were training opportunities for young people, there tended to be no follow up or a process to ensure these young people had job opportunities. Barefoot Warrior Academy is designed to create a direct link between training and job opportunities.
